Wordbound Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-08-25
Data controller: Kettle Games Inc.
Contact: contact@kettle.games

This policy describes what data Wordbound ("the game") collects, how it is used, and your choices. It applies to Wordbound on all platforms.

Data we collect

Platform account information. The game receives account information from the platform you play on, which may include your platform user ID, your platform username, and your profile image. Where a platform does not provide account information, the game instead generates a random player name and identifier on your device.

Game content you create. Your leaderboard scores, the word puzzles you create in hide-and-seek mode, and the decoration of your in-game room.

Local save data. Your game progress (levels completed, items collected, coins) is stored on your device or in your platform's save system. It is not transmitted to us.

Analytics data. We use Unity Analytics to understand how the game is played. It collects device information (such as device model, operating system, country derived from your IP address, and a randomly generated install identifier) and gameplay events (such as levels started and completed, features used, and session length). Analytics data is not linked to your platform account: your platform user ID and username are never included in analytics events.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, messages, health data, or browsing history, and the game does not serve ads.

How we use it

Your platform user ID is used as your account key in our online database, so your created content and scores stay yours across sessions and devices. Your username is displayed with content you share — on leaderboards, on puzzles you publish, and on your room when other players visit. Your profile image is displayed only to you, on your own profile screen, and is not stored on our servers.

Where your platform provides access to your friends list, it is used only within the game session to show your friends' content (such as their puzzles) first. Your friends list is never stored on our servers or shared.

Analytics data is used in aggregate to improve the game — for example, to find levels that are too hard, features that go unused, or crashes. It is not used to identify you, to build advertising profiles, or for any purpose outside improving Wordbound.

Purchases of additional content are processed entirely by your platform. We do not receive or store your payment details; we receive only confirmation of what content your account owns, used to unlock it.

Where your data is stored and who can access it

Your user ID, username, and created game content are stored in Firebase Realtime Database, a hosting service operated by Google LLC in the United States, acting as our data processor under the Firebase Data Processing and Security Terms. Google does not use this data for its own purposes.

Analytics data is collected and processed for us by Unity Technologies (Unity Analytics), acting as our data processor under Unity's data processing terms, with processing in the United States and the European Union.

Content you share in the game (your username, scores, puzzles, and room) is visible to other Wordbound players. We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for advertising or profiling. We may disclose data if required by law.

Retention and deletion

Your online content is retained while your account remains active. You can request deletion of all data associated with your account at any time by emailing contact@kettle.games from a means that identifies your player account (e.g. your username); we will delete it within 30 days.

Analytics data is retained by Unity Analytics according to its standard retention period and can be deleted on request as part of an account data deletion — though note analytics data cannot be tied back to your player account, so deletion requests are fulfilled via the device identifier where technically possible.

Children

Wordbound does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your region). If we learn we have done so, we will delete it.

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the effective date. Material changes will be highlighted in the game or on our website.
